Presidential Adviser, Sunday Dare attends Opening Ceremony of National Sports Festival in Ogun State:
The Special Adviser to the President (Media and Public Communications), Chief Sunday Dare CON FNIS, attended the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Sports Festival, held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abeokuta, on Sunday 18th May 2025.
Chief Sunday Dare joined the Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led the Federal Government delegation to the opening event yesterday in Abeokuta.
The Presidential Spokesperson was the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, when Ogun State was officially granted the hosting rights for the festival—widely regarded as Nigeria’s version of the Olympics.
The ceremony yesterday, amongst other dignitaries, also had in attendance, the Executive Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapọ Abiodun, as the host Governor, Ministers, State Governors, heads of government agencies and parastatals, together with the National custodians of Sports in the country, in the persons of Mr. Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade, as Chairman and DG National Sports Commission (NSC) respectively.
The National Sports Festival, "The Gateway Games, OGUN 2024, which will bring together over 15,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT, competing in about 32 sports, has been scheduled to take place in Abeokuta Ogun State, from May 16 to 31, 2025.
