Federal Government, Bajaj Discuss Expansion of Training Partnership for Youth Development:

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to deepening youth empowerment through strategic partnerships that prioritise skills development, technical education, and access to sustainable employment opportunities across the country.

The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Youth Initiative (Monitoring and Delivery), Dr Titilope Gbadamosi, stated this on Monday in Abuja when the Chief Executive Officer of DAG Bajaj Automobile Company, Mr Vijay Bhatt, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to her office to review ongoing collaborations and explore ways to expand their impact on young Nigerians.

Dr Gbadamosi described the visit as timely and significant, noting that the Federal Government remains focused on initiatives that directly prepare young people for the realities of the modern labour market.

She emphasised that partnerships with credible private sector players are central to the administration’s youth development agenda.

“I welcomed the Chief Executive Officer of DAG Bajaj Automobile Company, Mr Vijay Bhatt, and his team to my office, where we had a very productive discussion on the progress and impact of our collaboration on youth skills development,” Dr Gbadamosi said.

According to her, the partnership between the Federal Government, DAG Bajaj Automobile Company and the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has already yielded tangible results, particularly in the area of technical and vocational training.

“Through our partnership with the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Bajaj has played a key role in training young Nigerians in mechatronics repair, equipping them with practical, industry-relevant skills while expanding their opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship,” she stated.

Dr Gbadamosi commended the leadership of DAG Bajaj Automobile Company, paying glowing tribute to Mr Bhatt for what she described as his unwavering commitment to youth development and skills transfer in Nigeria.

She noted that such collaborations go beyond corporate social responsibility and directly contribute to nation-building.

“I commend DAG Bajaj Automobile Company for its continued commitment to youth development and skills transfer. Partnerships like this are essential to preparing our young people for the future of work and strengthening Nigeria’s technical workforce,” she said.

She added that the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiative remains open to scaling up partnerships that deliver measurable outcomes, stressing that the Federal Government is keen on ensuring that young Nigerians are not only trained but positioned to thrive in a competitive economy.

“We look forward to sustaining and expanding this collaboration for greater impact,” Dr Gbadamosi said.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Vijay Bhatt reaffirmed DAG Bajaj Automobile Company’s long-term commitment to Nigeria’s youth and the development of technical skills that align with global industry standards.

He praised the Federal Government for creating an enabling environment for meaningful private sector engagement in youth-focused programmes.

“We are proud of what we have achieved so far through our collaboration with the Federal Government and NADDC,” Mr Bhatt said. “Nigeria has a large, talented youth population, and we believe that with the right skills and exposure, young Nigerians can compete anywhere in the world.”

He explained that the company’s focus on mechatronics repair training is designed to address gaps in the automotive and mobility sectors while empowering participants to become job creators rather than job seekers.

“Our goal is to ensure that trainees leave these programmes with practical knowledge they can immediately apply, whether in paid employment or in setting up their own businesses,” Mr Bhatt added.
