Sports Minister Condoles With Zambian Ambassador Over Death Of Doctor

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare Wednesday commiserated with the Zambian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Solomon Jere over the death of Zambian Doctor, Dr Joseph Kabungo during Tuesday's World Cup Qualifiers between Nigeria and Ghana. In a letter he wrote to the Zambian Ambassador, the Minister expressed sadness over the untimely passage of the deceased, describing him as an asset to Zambia and a major player in African Football Ecosystem, stating his contribution to its growth will remain indelible in the sands of time.  "We pray that God comforts the family, the Country, his friends and colleagues. On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, I convey my heartfelt condolences. May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace", Dare added.

2022 FIFA World Cup: Sports Minister Regrets Super Eagles' Failure to Qualify, Condemns Vandalisation of Abuja Stadium

Reacting to the failure of Super Eagles to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, Sports Minister  Sunday Dare said :  “We drew 0-0 in Kumasi and drew 1-1 here and that meant the away goal rule gave Ghana the edge. It is most unfortunate and regrettable that we are not going to Qatar, but that is sports. Nothing is 100% certain. "On our part, the Federal Government gave every support  necessary. We got the stadium ready in all its glory. We  mobilised  Nigerians and other football lovers to fill up the stadium. World Cup Playoffs: FG Appoints Kola Daniel as Member of Logistics Committee

The Federal Government has appointed Mr. Kọla Daniel, as a member of Logistics Committee, for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Playoff  between Nigeria and Ghana. This was done through the Ministry of Sports, under the watchful eyes of the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, in a bid to successful host the second leg of the playoff and to ensure victory over the Black stars of Ghana. Minister Sunday Dare Congratulates New Olubadan Minister of Youth and Sports Development Chief Sunday Akin Dare has congratulated the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Dr Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun(Alli Okumade II), the 42nd Olubadan whose coronation is happening today in Ibadan. In a statement released by his office, the Minister said he was elated at the pedigree of the new Olubadan and the prospects it offers for the growth and prosperity of Ibadanland.  Chief Sunday Dare described the newly installed king as a person who has risen through the ranks of different sectors in the society.  “He is highly accomplished and has made his marks in academics, business and politics. His rich resume will no doubt impact positively on quality of leadership he will be providing to sons and daughters of Ibadanland.  The Minister also encouraged the new king to give his best in service to Ibadanland while assuring him of his support.

Youth Ministry Begins 3-Week National Digital Skills Training Programme

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has began a 3-week National Digital Skills Development Programme. The training  is holding at the National Youth Development Centre, Shere Hills, Jos, Plateau State and National Youth Development Centre Ode Omu, Osun State. The programme will run from March 6 to March 25, 2022. The Nigerian youths are to undergo training in different skills, ranging from Web Design, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, Cinematography, Phone Repair and Programming. At the end of the programme, 300 Nigerian youths would have been trained on Digital Skills from the venues. Starter packs and transportation allowances will be given to all the trainees, aside from the free accomodation and feeding provided. It would be recalled that the Youth Ministry had also just concluded the training of about 480 Nigerian youths for Technical and Agricultural Skills at both Shere Hills Jos and Odẹ Omu, from February 20 to March 4, 2022.
