The installation of Oloye Teslim Folarin as the Asaaju Olubadan of Ibadanland today by the Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun is a confirmation of his immense contribution to the growth and development of Ibadan land.  Senator Folarin even before his stint in politics has been committed to the growth of Ibadan and has never relented despite the huge demand attached to political offices. He has continued to empower youths, men, and women of Ibadan descendancy by facilitating jobs, skill acquisition programmes, and direct financial empowerment among others.  I congratulate him on behalf of all progressive youths in Oyo State as he adds another feather to his cap. We are certain this promotion will propel him to do more for the Ibadan land in his official and personal capacity. Oye a mori o!  Prince John O. WELCOME TO THE PROGRESSIVE FOLD, YOUR EXCELLENCY

Image
We the youths of the All Progressives Congress are elated by the decision of His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan to join the progressive fold.  This move is long overdue as a gentleman of his impeccable character deserves better than the tyrannic treatment being melted on him by Governor Seyi Makinde.  It is public knowledge that the Governor has been subjecting the gentleman Deputy Governor to unspeakable ridicule and stripped his office of any form of dignity. We urge His Excellency to accept our apologies on behalf of the good people of Oyo State for the inhumane treatment by the People's Democratic Party and its leader, Seyi Makinde. Here in the APC,  his personality, values, and ideas will be respected.  We also welcome the thousands of youths who are joining our great party alongside the Deputy Governor;  we promise them total and accomdative inclusiveness with open hands, as we join hands to reclaim Oyo State come 2023....

The Rebirth: A Fresh Start for Grassroots Basketball in Nigeria

Image
As the proverbial maxim posits, the future of any sports is in the development of its grassroots. Across different generations of stellar sports teams in different events, the production talent bed is one of the fulcrum of its success.  Grassroots does not only catalyze sporting success, it also guarantees the long term sustainability of such successes. Grassroot Basketball in Nigeria in the last number of years has continued to wallow in rot due to the non-existent reality of the sport, at the grassroot level. Unmitigated in-house fightings amongst stakeholders in the country crashed the entire grassroot system. The local league has been crippled, sponsors and investors have all disappeared and local players are watching right before their eyes, their talents waste away. The implication of this, is the total destruction of a whole sporting value chain, which spells doom for the future. Basketball should have a operational system where the top echelon depends on a feeder unit for i...
