Letter from Chief Sunday Dare CON: “Chief Bisi Akande: A Dedicated Patriot, Foremost Defender of Democracy

January 15th, 2024. 

I, Sunday Dare, on this day, felicitate with a leader I hold so much respect and admiration for- Chief Bisi Akande on this occasion of his 85th birthday anniversary. 

As Governor of Osun state, Baba served the public with great honor. 

He is a distinguished elder statesman, dedicated patriot, foremost defender of democracy and one of the greatest political minds of our time who always stood on the side of truth. 

Baba remains one of the few elders in Nigeria who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the country. 

As a progressive leader, he and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, now Nigeria's President and Commander in Chief consistently led us through the crucible of the Struggle and towards success and many great triumphs. 

Baba has certainly earned his place in the golden book of history. I wish him a very happy birthday and thank him for all of his efforts in serving the country. 

I pray that God Almighty grant Chief Bisi Akande many more years filled with sound health and joy.

LG Autonomy: Makinde Devices Another Means to Swindle LG Funds:

_Directs LG Chairs to Open another Account to receive Funds_ In another turn of events, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has deviced another way to swindle Local Government funds. Governor Makinde, yet to come to terms, on the Supreme Court ruling over LG Autonomy, has been trying all possible means to ensure that, the funds accruing to the local governments in Oyo State remains under his control. To further sabotage the process of transferring allocations directly to the LG accounts, Governor Makinde has directed all LG Chairmen in Oyo State, to open accounts with First Bank. The directives were given to ensure persistent manipulation of LG funds, which has been the order of the day for so long a time, as the Oyo State Governor asked the Chairmen to submit the newly opened First Bank accounts for payment of allocation, even as previous LG accounts with First Bank remains active.
