Sunday Dare Delivers Civic Center; Names Project after Soun of Ogbomosoland:
In his usual way of giving back to the society and generosity, The Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Public Communications), Chief Sunday Dare CON, has just delivered yet another remarkable project in Ogbomoso.
The Civic Center, named after His Imperial Majesty, Ọba Ghandi Afọlábí Laoye Orumogege III, The Soun of Ogbomosoland, is part of Chief Dare's contributions to the development of Ogbomosoland, and in line with the 25-Year Development Vision for Ogbomosoland.
The Ọba Ghandi Civic Center, located at Building 3 Starlight Junction, Abegan Street, was equally commissioned by HIM Ọba Ghandi Afọlábí Laoye Orumogege III, on Saturday 18th April 2026, to the full admiration and glare of Ogbomoso sona and daughters present.
In his release, after the commissioning of the project, The Soun of Ogbomosoland, HIM Ọba Ghandi Afọlábí Laoye Orumogege III, stated that "I had the honor of commissioning a remarkable project delivered by our illustrious son, Chief Sunday Dare, the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland.
This initiative goes beyond bricks and mortar—it is a bold and inspiring contribution to our 25-Year Development Vision for Ogbomosoland. It stands as a testament to what is possible when sons and daughters of our land take ownership of our shared destiny.
Expressing his gratitude, The First Class Monarch noted that, "In a profound gesture of humility and respect, Chief Sunday Dare chose to name it the Oba Ghandi Civic Center. I receive this honor with deep gratitude, not as a personal tribute, but as a reflection of our collective commitment to building a model city together."
The Soun of Ogbomosoland concluded, saying, "This is the Ogbomoso we envision—one driven by purpose, strengthened by partnership, and built to endure for generations."
The Ọba Ghandi Civic Center (GCC), will serve as Office spaces, Renewed Hope Agenda Office, Entrepreneurship/Youth Skills and Training center, Community Development service/activities, and a Gym and Wellness Center, for physical fitness, body conditioning exercises, harping on youth development, job creation, economic growth, and community development.
The former Minister of Sports and Youth Development has consistently exhibited profound dedication to the development of Ogbomoso, Oyo State and Nigeria, putting the welfare of his people at the top of his priorities;
Some of the notable contributions of the former Minister of Sports and Youth Development are employment/job slots to several youths of Ogbomoso across NYSC, NCC, EFCC, Federal Polytechnic and Universities and other Federal ministries, departments and agencies; refurbishment of Basketball ball court at LAUTEH; renovation/roofing of Sọun Township Stadium Pavilion; 1.3 billion Naira Ecological and Erosion Control Project; disbursement of interest-free loans under the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES) to over 300 women across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
Additionally, Chief Sunday Dare has sponsored the training of 40 coaches abroad; donated a 30-room ensuite hostel to Ayede Polytechnic; provided cash relief to widows; the elderly, and women of the Ogbomoso Omolaso Society, provision of equipments to Okelerin Primary Hospital in Ogbomoso.
Furthermore, The Sarkin Wassani of Daura Emirate facilitated free food relief packages across all zones in Oyo State; aiding over 1650 youths undertake trade and skills acquisition programmes; donated 17 seater bus for federal Polytechnic Ayede; built and donated Ogbomoso sports arena and youth centre; Ikoyi Ile Multipurpose Sports Complex project; provided free eye glasses; have hundreds of slots on National Youth Development Digital Training, Entrepreneurship skills; 80-bed capacity Hospital Pakiotan; renovation of National Youth Development Centre Iresaapa as temporary site for the Federal Polytechnic Ayede; donation of laptops to LAUTECH ICT; distribution of COVID Relief Packages, just a few to mention.
