Governor Makinde Orders Oyo State Local Government Chairmen to Back Out of ALGON:
_Mandates Stepping Down from ALGON before 5th August_
In a new turn of event, showing that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde is yet to get over the Supreme Court judgement on the Local Government Financial Autonomy;
Governor Makinde has ordered all the Chairmen in Oyo State, to back out of ALGON, in his bid to continuously lay hold of the Local Governments in Oyo State, against all legal proceedings, and procedures.
Also, Governor Makinde has mandated all the Chairmen in the state to address the press, and renounce their ALGON Memberships before he leaves for his supposed vacation, on or before 5th August 2024.
This is part of the recommendations from the Committee set up by Governor Makinde to review the recent judgement of the Supreme Court on Local Government Financial Autonomy.
Recall that, Governor Seyi Makinde has been against Local Government Autonomy since he assumed office, both in his first tenure and as part of his manifestos for his second term re-election campaign and bids.
In his usual emperor stance, Seyi Makinde has been vocal, expressing his displeasure for the judgement of the Apex Court on the autonomy of Local Governments, which prompted him to set up a committee to review the judgement.
Governor Makinde has been looking for loop holes , where he can plug his selfish straw to keep milking Local Governments' funds, as against the order of the Federal Government, that LG Chairs are to complete account details opening, forwarding and submission to the Treasury Single Account (TSA), for direct reception of monthly allocation to the LG coffers.
Engr. Seyi Makinde, who is serving his second term as the Governor of Oyo State, has been holding Local Governments' treasuries into ransom, and has been running LG affairs on behalf of the Chairmen in the State, without being accountable to the good people of Oyo State.
The sole administration of Governor Makinde has hindered infrastructural and social developments at the grassroots, turned down economic growth, making administration a hard nut to crack at the third tier of governance, as the Chairmen are not seen to be in charge of their respective Local Governments.
If the LG Chairs in Oyo State renounces their memberships out of ALGON; apart from perpetuating the moribund status of the LGs in the state, crippled socio- economic development, infrastructural deficits, Oyo State will as well have to relinquish the National Vice Chairmanship seat of ALGON, currently held by the Chairman of ALGON in Oyo State, the Chairman of Egbeda LG, Honourable SANDA.
There's an urgent and imminent call on the good people of Oyo State, to keep close watch on the LG Chairs in the State, to ensure they are not playing out the bidding of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State, not only for the sake of posterity, but also for prosperity, and the sustainable development Oyo State deserves.
# enough of G S M shenanigans on local government fund.
