How Governor Makinde Coerced Oyo LG Chairmen into Forming New LG Association:

Contrary to the news making rounds that, the 33 Chairmen in Oyo State have agreed to pull out of the ALGON, as a matter of supporting Governor Seyi Makinde, on his rejection of the LG Financial Autonomy;

The available pieces of information revealed that, none of the chairmen is in support of the Oyo State Governor, on his rejection of the financial autonomy verdicts, as delivered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

But, as a function of covering up his misdeeds, the Governor of Oyo State invited the chairmen to yet another meeting, and instructed them all to respectively append their signatures on  blank papers, which they all did, without the knowledge of the purpose, for such instruction(s).

Part of Governor Makinde's intentions is to go ahead and register a new association, using the signed papers, presenting the case as being consented to, by the Local Government Chairmen; doing everything possible to ensure that the LGs' allocation is continuously sent to the Joint Account.

The LG Chairmen have been earlier threatened by the Governor that, any LG Chairman that will refuse to append his signature, should not resume to the LG secretariat office, coming Monday 5th August 2024, without revealing what the signatures will be used for.

It is worthy to note, it was reported in the media space amen days ago that, Governor Makinde has earlier ordered the 33 LG Chairs to back out of ALGON, and mandated them to stage a press briefing to that effect, on or before 5th August 2024.

Also, in another development, the LG Chairs in Oyo State are yet to receive funds from the Governor for the past two months, as they do receive certain amount from the monthly allocations, through the joint account.

These, and other issues are behind-the-scene challenges set up by the government of the day in Oyo State, to ensure that Financial Autonomy to LGs in Oyo State becomes a mirage;

In difference, the parochial defence some political parties and their spokespersons are putting up in the media space, are all deceit, lies and misleading points, a misrepresentation of the truth in Oyo State.

There is need for well meaning Nigerians, indigenes of the state, appropriate agencies and the Federal Government, to quickly come up, put a stop the imminent consequences of holding bent to the State and LG treasuries, even against legal proceedings and procedures, by the Government of Oyo State.

LG Autonomy: Makinde Devices Another Means to Swindle LG Funds:

_Directs LG Chairs to Open another Account to receive Funds_ In another turn of events, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has deviced another way to swindle Local Government funds.
