Tokyo 2020ne: Team Nigeria Deserves To be Celebrated


The much awaited Tokyo 2020 Olympics has come and gradually drawing to a close in Japan with Team Nigeria placing currently 74 position in the medal table having won 1 silver and 1 bronze.  To  some people it might not be a good outing as expectation to beat Atlanta' 96 Olympic record was not achieved.  To some realists  like us considering where we are and where we are coming from 2 medals won by Team Nigeria is considered as Super achievement  and Sunday Dare and the Sports ministry should be commended.  

The problem of Nigeria sports didn't  start or created by SUNDAY DARE.  He only inherited it from his predecessor  who came with intention to put an end to federations crisis but rather than solve the crisis he created more Nff, Basketball and AFN are case studies .  Olympic preparations didn't start with Dare but he inherited it. He breath life into the preparations and that is the reason Team Nigeria can boast of being a competitor  at games and not a participant  There is no news of Team Nigeria being shortchange or dollars missing rather Dare increase their prize money (medal) to encourage podium finish.  

Returning home with a silver and a bronze from global event like Olympics with  least expected sports (Wrestling and Long Jump) calls for celebration and not condemnation.

LG Autonomy: Makinde Devices Another Means to Swindle LG Funds:

_Directs LG Chairs to Open another Account to receive Funds_ In another turn of events, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has deviced another way to swindle Local Government funds. Governor Makinde, yet to come to terms, on the Supreme Court ruling over LG Autonomy, has been trying all possible means to ensure that, the funds accruing to the local governments in Oyo State remains under his control. To further sabotage the process of transferring allocations directly to the LG accounts, Governor Makinde has directed all LG Chairmen in Oyo State, to open accounts with First Bank.
